PyLadies Melbourne
Melbourne women who like programming in Python

Welcome to PyLadies Melbourne! We are the Melbourne chapter of a global network of women interested in the Python programming language. If that's you, please join us! We welcome everyone from professional Python developers to newcomers, curious weekend dabblers, and self-taught part-timers. We meet at least once a month.

We intend to be inclusive of both cis and trans women. We aim to organise events with a feminist sensibility - one that centres women's experiences and voices. Currently, we ask that only women attend our events, although check individual events to confirm.

The PyLadies Melbourne chapter was founded by Brianna Laugher (@pfctdayelise) in 2016.

We have a monthly meeting, on the third Monday of each month. Please join our meetup group and RSVP to meetups there. It's an opportunity to learn something new, share what you know and meet your peers.

Events are subject to the PyLadies Code of Conduct.

We also have some one-off events such as the annual PyLadies Breakfast at PyCon Australia, and the Women in Tech screening of Hidden Figures in March 2017.

Oh, and we love to support the DjangoGirls workshop when it is held in Melbourne!

Thanks to who are our venue provider since May 2017!

Thanks to who hosted and helped cater our first two meetings and several subsequent ones. If you are interested in functional programming, data science or a nice coworking space in the CBD, check them out!

We are big fans of the job board! Formerly known as DCC Jobs, they pre-screen employers especially in women-minority industries (like tech and IT) on paid parental leave, pay equity, flexible working arrangements and much more. This information is not publicly listed elsewhere and is a useful tool for assessing potential employers.
