PyLadies Melbourne
Melbourne women who like programming in Python

Welcome to PyLadies Melbourne! We are the Melbourne chapter of a global network of women interested in the Python programming language. If that's you, please join us! We welcome everyone from professional Python developers to newcomers, curious weekend dabblers, and self-taught part-timers. We meet at least once a month.

We intend to be inclusive of both cis and trans women. We aim to organise events with a feminist sensibility - one that centres women's experiences and voices. Currently, we ask that only women attend our events, although check individual events to confirm.

The PyLadies Melbourne chapter was founded by Brianna Laugher (@pfctdayelise) in 2016.

We have a monthly meeting, on the third Monday of each month. Please join our meetup group and RSVP to meetups there. It's an opportunity to learn something new, share what you know and meet your peers.

We also have some one-off events such as the PyLadies Breakfast at PyCon AU, and the Women in Tech screenings of Hidden Figures in March 2017.

Oh, and we love to support the DjangoGirls workshop when it is held in Melbourne!

Events are subject to the PyLadies Code of Conduct.

Thanks to who hosted and helped cater our first two meetings and several subsequent ones. If you are interested in functional programming, data science or a nice coworking space in the CBD, check them out!

Thanks to The Interaction Consortium provides our venue (ACMI X), in September 2016.

Thanks to General Assembly Melbourne provided us a venue for June-July 2016.

Thanks to Biarri who covered our catering from June 2016-March 2017.

Our monthly meetings are held at Silverpond, 2/382 Little Collins St in the CBD. It's just inside McKillop St on Little Collins. A short walk from Flinders Street station, or any Collins St/Bourke St/Elizabeth St tram.
